Please review the membership types below before applying. Fees and full details are on the AfAS membership page.

Full Membership: Doctoral degree in astronomy or related field; or Master's + ≥2 years in astronomy; or Bachelor's/Honours + ≥5 years in astronomy; or refereed/published astronomy paper(s) accepted by the membership committee.
Associate Membership: Professionals actively involved in the advancement of astronomy; amateur astronomers, knowledgeable individuals in astronomically relevant activities, and other enthusiasts who do not qualify for Full membership.
Student Membership: University students of astronomy and related fields.
Honorary Membership: Exemplary contribution to the field and/or the Society, by vote of the Executive Committee and General Assembly.
